Fornbyn

Fornbyn (“The Old Village”) is an open air museum located next to the main building in Skara. Founded just after the museum itself in 1921, the park now contains close to 30 buildings from all over Västergötland.

Kata Gård

During the 2000s, archeological excavations behind the Cistercian monastery in Varnhem revealed sensational finds from the time before the monks came in possession of the grounds in the 12th century. Here lies the ruin of one of Sweden’s oldest churches, a private farm church from the Viking age.
