Up on the ridge within the Hornborgasjön nature reserve is Heljesgården. The farm is managed by Västergötlands museum. The siblings Lars and Elsa were the last of the owner’s family to work the farm and they were determined that their home should be preserved as a living cultural monument. The farm shows the local agricultural traditions from the 19th century to the interwar years. Everything, both large and small, that can tell us about everyday life on the site has been left behind. The farmyard has always been mowed with a scythe, which is why there are all kinds of flowers and herbs during the summer.
